Sink Your Teeth Into Marketing...Literally
How a trip to the dentist stimulated my Lease Purchase business!
Most people hate the dentist, but I just got back from a dentistry appt. that will change my view on the tooth forever! My oldest child, now a toddler, was scheduled to see the “Super Dentist” down in Chula Vista, CA. I thought we were just going for a routine cleaning, but it turns out this trip to the dental office was a seminar on marketing! Here are some things I noticed right away.
1. Most dental offices have a plain front window with no real decoration. The super dentists took a boring building and turned it into a billboard. The building is a stand-alone structure, strewn with art and statues of superheroes, sure to grab the attention of toddlers driving by with parents on the busy road. The first thing my little girl said to me as we drove past the building was, “Daddy, look…a princess!”
2. Two Jeeps sat in the parking lot, wrapped in advertising for the “Super Dentists.” They have a couple of offices. Every mile driven is another marketing opportunity for the Super Dentists.
3. They’ve equipped the lobby with video games and other children’s entertainment. Does your child run towards the lobby to get in to the dentist’s office?
4. They offer a great product! TVs with the hottest kid shows are not only in front of every chair, but also on the ceiling! In addition, the gloves the hygienist uses on her hands are either grape or apple flavored. The staff was amazing, friendly, competent, and treated my little girl like a princess.
5. Their systems reward patients for good behavior. Patients cash in their points for stuffed animals, toys, and even iPods. Here is the best part: 3 points for no cavities, 3 points for brushing, and a whopping 5 points for writing a testimonial or referring a patient. To get that iPod, I better stop telling my little girl to brush her teeth and start inviting her friends to the Super Dentists. :-)
6. As we leave, we grab a marketing DVD on the Super Dentists and receive two cards to give out as referrals. If one of our referrals hands in our card, we are entered into a drawing to win an iPad!
So what’s my point? Are you running your real estate business like the Super Dentists, or are you letting the real marketers bury you alive? I don’t want to compete with the Super Dentists of the real estate industry; I want to be the one setting the standard. What would your real estate business be like in 2010 and 2011 if you marketed like the “Super Dentist?” Enough said… Get out there and make it happen in 2010!
